A new player may participate in a free two-week trial period. Inform the team about the trial by email at p2017@fcviikingit.com. You will receive the team instructions and a registration invitation to the Jopox app by email. The club does not insure players during the trial, so please make sure you have your own insurance before joining. During the trial, players cannot participate in matches or tournaments.
If the player continues after the trial, register through the club’s website (https://www.fcviikingit.fi/lomakkeet/12123/uuden-pelaajan-ilmoittautuminen-juniorit-kausi-2024-2025). Purchase a player license and insurance through the FA’s Pelipaikka service (https://fin.ma.services/). After registration, you will receive a club invoice and full access to Jopox. Check your shirt number with the team before ordering kit.
Jopox is the team’s main communication and management tool. Through it you can register IN/OUT for practices and games, view team news, invoices, and schedules. Register for practices no later than the day before and for matches at least two days before the game. Inform the coach directly of any sudden absences or illness. Communication also takes place via email and the parents’ WhatsApp group.
Arrive at practice at least 15 minutes before start time, dressed and ready. Equipment must include weather-appropriate clothing, shin guards (mandatory), cleats, a pumped football, and a water bottle. Shin guards are required by insurance policy and without them players cannot train or play. In summer, training takes place at Heteniitty and Kartano fields in Vuosaari; in winter at local school gyms and Myllyhalli in Myllypuro. Training is only cancelled due to thunderstorms or temperatures below –10°C.
Sign up for games through Jopox at least two days before the match. Arrive 30 minutes before kickoff to allow time for warm-up and tactical briefing. Warm-ups help prevent injuries and prepare players mentally for the match. Tournaments are announced one to two months in advance in Jopox and are often subject to an extra participation fee. Tournament sign-ups are binding, and fees are still charged if a replacement player cannot be found after a withdrawal.
Order all kit through Stadium Team Sales (https://www.stadium.fi/seurat/1977802). The match kit consists of a red shirt, red shorts, and red socks. The blue shirt serves as both a training and away shirt. Goalkeepers wear a yellow or green shirt. The player’s name and number are printed according to team guidelines. Always confirm your shirt number before ordering.
The club fee is 85–90 euros per month (approximately 1030 euros per year). This covers coach salaries, field rentals, league fees, and administrative costs. The team separately covers tournament and equipment expenses, partly funded through fundraising. Payments must be made on time; otherwise, participation in team activities will be suspended. The club’s payment monitoring is handled by Kredinor Oy.
Resignations must be sent by email to the team leader. The notice period is the current month plus one additional month. Players transferring to another club during the season are charged three additional months’ fees. It is not possible to take a break from the team; players must resign and rejoin later if they wish to return. Injury or illness cases are handled individually.
The player license (Pelipassi) is required to play in official competitions and provides access to certain member benefits. All children and youth must have valid competition insurance, which also covers training sessions. Without insurance, participation in games or practices is not allowed. Instructions for making an insurance claim in case of injury are found on the FA website (https://www.palloliitto.fi/kilpailut/pelipassit-ja-vakuutukset?tab=vahingon-sattuessa).
The team is divided into Red and Blue groups, further numbered 1–3. Players may move between groups based on the coaches’ evaluations. The season is divided into summer and winter periods, and all practices and matches are visible in Jopox (which can be synced to your own calendar).
All players and parents are expected to follow FC Viikingit’s Fair Play principles.
Encourage and respect everyone, including referees and opponents.
Accept defeat gracefully and win with respect.
There is zero tolerance for bullying or swearing.
Together, we create a supportive and positive atmosphere.
Parents are responsible for ensuring that players arrive on time. During training, parents must stay outside the field area. At matches, parents support from the stands and set an example of sportsmanship by respecting referees, coaches, and opponents. Coaching methods should not be discussed during practices or games but privately afterward if needed. Support the team as a whole rather than focusing only on individual performances.
The team funds its own tournament fees, equipment, and gear purchases. Each family’s participation in fundraising is important to keep costs reasonable.
FC Viikingit provides support for families with immigrant backgrounds. Cultural interpreter Liban Ismail is available at the club office (Mustalahdentie 10, 2nd floor) on Tuesdays from 16:30–19:30 and by phone on Fridays from 16:30–19:30.
